See how SERVE... serves!
What is fast fashion?
What is ethically made?
Ethically made fashion is an approach to the design, sourcing, and manufacturing that maximizes benefits to the people and communities creating the goods.
What is fair trade?
Fair trade is an organized social movement to help producers in developing countries get a fair price for their products. Members of the movement advocate higher social and environmental prices to promote sustainable practices and ethical treatment for the workers and farmers.
Fair Trade .vs. Ethically Made?
They are different but the line can be a bit blurry sometimes. The biggest difference is that fair trade companies focus on the treatment and payment of the people producing your clothing, while ethical companies strive to reduce negative impact on the environment and native cultures.
What is a give back?
A give back is a company that well...gives back! This is usually represented by a percent of profits going towards a specific charity or a buy one give one ratio like we do with our SERVE Paletas.
What is an artisan?
An artisan is a small producer of goods who own their own production and make a living from their trade. Artisans generally work with their hands to create one of a kind items using traditional techniques. The artisans we support around the globe use techniques that they learned through decades of tribal knowledge, passed down within their families and communities.
How do you know for sure something is fair trade?
We ask for proof! We do our research, we ask for documentation or acts, and often we make the journey to witness everything first hand. We dive deep in to confirm all the facts.
Is everything at SERVE fair trade / ethically made?
We wish we were perfect, but in reality we aren't. While we try to make sure that the lines we carry are fair trade or ethically made we do not guarantee that everything is. To error is human & vetting everything 100% takes a lot of research and time. Sometimes companies claim to be fair trade but resell goods from other non fair trade companies, when this is happening we catch on! It also raises red flags for us when a company doesn't supply significant documentation of their practices, when this happens we work one on one to obtain more information or decide to no longer carry that line if there are to many unknown factors.
What does SERVE do in our community?
We are not solely focused on international efforts! We love to carry lines that are proudly Made in the USA, in our state, and in our local communities. Outside of our store walls, we match our paleta sales and disburse our "Give One"s thru various events with organizations in our community. We also love supporting local organizations, such as Rockwall's Meals on Wheels, Girl's Mentoring, and many more.
Why isn't this called Hallie B. anymore?
...really... this is bigger than a humans name! There is not 1 hero in this story, nor should there be. We strive to be powered with ᑕOᗰᗰᑌᑎITY on top & the founder on bottom. So our name evolved into something more applicable to our mission of serving our planet, world, country, state, county, city, community, and people well by doing and cultivating good!
